| MAHARISHI PIPPLAD |
Lord Shiva is considered as the most powerful God also known as "Mahadev"(supreme of all gods).The beginning nor the end of which he is Lord Shiva.Lord Shiva also the destroyer of the world,whenever misdeed and unrightouesness are at peak in this universe,Lord Shiva destroys the world to create a new world with help of Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu.
STORY OF PIPPLAD AVATAR:
Lord Shiva took many incarnations to give right direction to the people.One of the avatar of Lord Shiva was Maharishi Pipplad,son of Rishi Dadhichi and Suvarcha.Both (Rishi dadhichi and Survarcha were great devotee of Lord Shiva).Maharishi Pipplad was an indian vedic sage and philoshopher, known to have written the Prashna Upanishad, which is among the Ten Mukhya Upanishads.
Once,Devraj Indra had killed his priest ( purohit ) Vishroop and he got became afflicted with the sin of killing Brahman and Brahamhatya in form of demon Vrittasura was making chaos in the whole universe.Gods were unable to defeat him,so they all went to Lord Brahma and with Lord Brahma they went to Vaikuntha( home of Lord Vishnu ) to seek help.
Indra(King of Gods) made his own thunderbolt from the bones of Maharishi Dadhichi and killed Vrittasura, because Dadhichi's bones were strong as Lord Shiva gave him a boon which made bones of Rishi Dadhichi strong ( of Vajra) .
When Maharishi Dadhichi's wife Suvarcha came back after returning to the ashram, she came to know that Rishi Dadhichi's bones have been used to make weapons of the gods, then she became eager to become Sati ( want to die in pyre of his husband ), then there was a Akashvani that in your womb the avatar of Lord Shiva from the Brahmatej of Maharishi Dadhichi will happen. Hence it is necessary to protect it.
Hearing this, Suvarcha(wife of rishi dadhichi) sat down under a nearby tree where she gave birth to a beautiful child. Being born under a Peepal tree, Brahmaji named him Pippalad and all the gods performed all his rituals.
Then she committed suicide to reunite with her husband. The infant Pippalada was taken care of by Dadhichi's sister, Dadhimati.Maharishi Dadhichi and his wife Suvarcha were both great devotees of Lord Shiva. With his blessings, Lord Shiva was born in his place in the form of Pipplad.
When pipplad grew up he asked the deities(devas)- what is the reason that my father Dadhichi left me before birth? As soon as I was born, my mother also became sati and in my childhood I was orphaned and started suffering.
Hearing this, the deities told that it is because of the sight of Shanidev (God of Justice) that such misfortune has been made. Maharishi Pipplad was very angry on hearing this and started saying that this Shani does not spare even newborn babies. He has so much ego.

Then one day when he came face to face with Shani, he(pipplad)raised his brahmdand and attacked Shani from him, so that Shani Dev could not bear the blow of brahmdand, so he started running away in fear from him. Even after circumambulating , Brahma Dand did not give up on Shani Dev and came on his feet, due to which Shani became lame.
The gods begged Maharishi Pipplad to forgive Shani Dev, then Pipplad Muni forgave Shani Dev. Pipplad forgave Shani on the request of the gods that Shani would not harm anyone from birth till he attains the age of 16 years. Since then, just by remembering Maharishi Pipplad, Shani's pain goes away.
ANOTHER STORY:
In Brahmapurana, there is a story that considering the gods to be the cause of the death of his parents,Maharishi was in great anger and he worshiped Lord Shiva to get some powers against Gods to take revenge on them.
He after creating kratiya ( something destructive), left it to the gods. Seeing this, Lord Shiva became a mediator and established friendship between the gods and Maharishi Pipplad. Later, due to the desire to see their parents, the gods took them to Dadhichi in heaven. Dadhichi was pleased to see him.
