           You cannot describe Lord Shiva in words.  He is eternal, he is everywhere.He belongs to no one, yet He belongs to everyone.Lord Shiva is also called "Bholebhandari" because he does not discriminate against anyone and does not get angry very quickly.  But when he is angry with someone, his Rudra form has been seen.No one is small or big in Lord Shiva's eyes, he see everyone with the same eyes.He is omnipresent and he is worshiped by both gods and demons.He has taken many incarnations which are considered as Avatar of Lord Shiva.

        The flame of anger of Lord Shiva, who has a sweet smile on his face, has killed many wicked people. Virbhadra is the fierce form of Lord Shiva which was created by Lord Shiva from his hair( jata) in anger with Daksha Prajapati . Today we are going to tell you the story of Virbhadra.

STORY OF VIRBHADRA AVATAR:

      Daksha Prajapati was the son of Lord Brahma.He did harsh penance to get Devi Aadishakti as in form of his daughter.Daksh Prajapati was great devotee of Lord Vishnu. But on the other hand he was great hater of Lord Shiva as Lord Shiva had cutted the fifth head of his Father ( Lord Brahma). 

But Devi sati want to marry Lord Shiva.And She was married to Lord Shiva without any permission of Daksha.Goddess Sati was a devotee of Lord Shiva since her childhood.  She always spent her time in his worship.

    In her childhood, Sati had decided that she would grow up to accept Lord Shiva as her husband.Daksha Prajapati considered Lord Shiva as his enemy. He tried many times to stop his daughter but failed everytime. This was also a reason that did not invited Lord Shiva and Sati to his yagna. In that yagya, Daksha Prajapati called the gods, humans and sages but did not call Lord Shiva.

    Lord Shiva did not have any concern with worldly attachment, so there was no regret for Lord Shiva for not inviting him to the yagna.But when Goddess Sati came to know that her father had invited everyone except her and Lord Shiva, she felt very sad.


    Listening about Yagna, Goddess Sati started urging Lord Shiva to go to the yagna.Lord Shiva tried to stop them by saying that," when we are not invited to the Yagya, we should not go."But Goddess Sati insisted and went for the yagna.Lord Shiva sent Nandi ji with her to protect because he knew that something bad was going to happen.There Prajapati Daksha insulted Lord Shiva in front of Goddess Sati, which could not be tolerated by Goddess Sati.

       Goddess Sati, who was the form of Goddess Adishakti, left her body by burning herself in the yagya with her yogic power.Everybody was in great shock to see Devi Sati in that condition.When Lord Shiva came to know about this incident, he could not control his anger.  The whole creation trembled with his anger, from the flame of his anger,he plucked his hair knote and he created Veerabhadra and ordered him to destroy Prajapati Daksha and his army and also his yagna.


    Virbhadra started following Mahadev's orders without wasting any time.Veerabhadra attacked Daksha's army and killed all his army.Apart from this, whoever came in his way destroyed him.

    Now Daksh was in fear so he went to Lord Vishnu who was present there at that time but Lord Vishnu told that he is unable to do his help as he has done very bad with Devi Sati. After killing all the army of Daksha,Virbhadra came to that Yagna and killed Daksh by beheading him.
     

     When Lord  Brahma and Lord Vishnu thought that it was not auspicious to leave the Yagya in the middle, but the one who had organized this Yagya (Prajapati Daksha) had already died.


      Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu then went to Mount Kailash(adobe of Lord Shiva)and made a lot of effort to convince Mahadev that he should give life to Prajapati Daksha and perform the Yagya.  After much persuasion, Lord Shiva agreed to him and gave life to Daksha by clowning the sheep's head, after which this yagya was completed.

SHAKTI PEETHAS:

   After this with the corspe of Devi Sati,Lord Shiva wanders like a madman here and there and Lord Vishnu gradually cuts the corpse in fragmented form with his Sudarshan Chakra ( divine wheel or weapon of Lord Vishnu ).

    Wherever the part of Devi Sati's body and the ornaments she wore fell, there the Shakti Peeth came into existence. Thus 51 Shakti Peethas are formed by the fall of various parts of the corpse at different places.
